Not much to say…
by Daworm on Mar.03, 2010, under General Ramble
Well, don’t have much to say this time around. Just to say that I am here, and I am doing stuff. Just not as fast as I’d like.
I need more time… time to Blend, time to develop. Time to get my own stuff happening.
Working on trying to get some level of webhosting going + other services offered. But it’s not progressing as fast as I’d like.
What I really need is a good week I can sit down with like-minded indviduals and just dedicate my time to Blender. That would be more productive on one-front at least.
Death of Little Ninja Project :(
by Daworm on Feb.15, 2010, under Blender
So I’ve been pottering around a little bit here and there, working on some models and generally my skill for the larger Tar Valon project.
I am getting there but still a few months off of a polished workflow process for creating models. But I am starting to get something inline (I’ll explain more in a further posting).
Anyways, I posted a about an Inspiration and New Hope and linked to a video “Little Ninja Project” and voiced my cries of “more more!” which was eventually answered.
It’s short, it’s sweet and quirky. Just the way we like it
Although I really do hope the author will continue with this in the future and build up on it some more and the story-line. No need to let inexperience and lack of ability hold you back.
Inspiration and New Hope

Just a short update here.
I’ve been some time away from Blender. Just RL getting busy and not having much spare time to really get into Blender proper.
However saying that I am involved (so far very limited) in a project with another Blender fan for the city of Tar Valon from Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time. You can view details about that over at the Blender Artists forum.
In addition to that I’d like to share with you all this little gem of an animation.
Little Ninja Project from Shane Newville on Vimeo.
Watching this a couple of times just to see little things I might have missed the first time through. I’ve realised that I might be aspiring to go too far too fast with my work in Blender. So I’ll dial it back a notch, break out an earlier render I was working on and get him animated some. Won’t go detailed on the hands and feet too much, a simple painted on face as well like seen in the above video. But then I can use it as an evolution of work more than a “I go this far… so I stopped”.
More updates about that later though.
Adios!
Update and a First post
by Daworm on Dec.24, 2009, under General Ramble
Hello all. Not much of a post this round. Just a quick update on things. I am still around, however I haven’t done much in the way of blender for a few weeks. Been a Tad hectic with RL. However I plan on getting back in to it in the new year.
Just posting this from my Google phone. Quite awesome and plan on using it more. MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!
First decent rendered head.
by Daworm on Nov.01, 2009, under Blender, General Ramble
So after about a month of messing about with Blender I decided to give it a go at making something “decent” with it.
This is what I’ve done so far:
My first decent head! from Victor Hardy on Vimeo.
Some still image renders of what I’m at so far.

Next step is to get some semi-decent texturing on it.
Blender 3D – My oh My!
by Daworm on Oct.21, 2009, under Blender, General Ramble
Ok, for the last few weeks I’ve been messing about with Blender. A free open-source 3D Modeling software, capable of great things from what I’ve seen and read so far. Don’t believe me? Have a look at some works (internet sourced).
I’ll post some of my works in a day or so.

Please note that none of the above are my works, just an example of what’s possible (found via flickr search)

Fully Playable Games
The amazing thing about Blender is that it has a built-in game engine, that (yet again) the Blender Foundation have assisted in having made to show the sorts of things that are possible.
But that’s just some content… there is lots more out there, if you have any questions jump onto any number of community websites.
Two that I am on at this stage:
But there are MANY more than that out there.
I’ll make another post in a few days with some good tutorial links, but quickly on that note have a look at the approx 5 hours of tutorial videos available on Blender Underground. An awesome entry level of information available within them!
A few mutterings
by Daworm on Jul.16, 2009, under General Ramble
I don’t have much (if anything) to really add today.
Other than some general ramblings…
A while ago now I picked up a HTC Magic running on the Vodafone Network, and it’s been purring along nicely. Now running many various apps on it, My Tracks, Advanced Task Manager just to name a couple of utility apps, and an awesome online (and free) game… Cestos: The objective is fairly simple knock the enemy ball into the hole or survive not being blown up. Yet to achieve that goal is not simple when you are going against other actual players… who knows what tactics they’ll use. Will they sit back and wait for you to come get them? Or will they charge on in at you to beat you into submission… Get it and find out!
Anyway, on to another track of muttering, still bashing out some more ideas for my map for NS2 as soon as the tools are available. Nothing much more just yet and I THINK I might have a concept artist on board. A good friend of mine who hasn’t really done much in the way of environment sketching / concept. But hey, he’s getting into 3D Animation / Modelling it’s a good stepping stone and gives him some port-folio work
Anyway, just a few mutterings for now.

Natural Selection 2 – Mapping
by Daworm on Jul.14, 2009, under Natural Selection 2
I’ve decided to try my hand at mapping for Natural Selection 2 just as soon as UWE (Unknown Worlds Entertainment) release their mapping (& other) tools.
So saying I’m in concept design for it at this stage and for now I’m looking for interested 3D Modeler (static props for now, no / little animation for now) and a Concept Artist. This is un-paid work, but if successful you will have a bit of a portfolio you can use to build up for content released to a Commercial game (I’m doing this un-paid).
However if the work is good enough and UWE / Community like the map enough, it can ship with NS2 come launch and some form of financial re-imbursement will be forth-coming and your contribution to this map will not go un-noticed.
Leave a comment if you’re interested. If you register your e-mail will be on file and I can contact you further!
Amatuer or Professional I don’t care! Anything is better than my skill level. =)
Blog Online – Again
by Daworm on Jul.14, 2009, under General Ramble
Ok – My blog is online… Again.
But this time with an awesome skin!
Powered by WordPress of course because it’s tried and tested and I don’t have the skills to customise my own or some little known system JUST yet.
More updates and fixering up to the site coming soon!
