WordPress wp-admin and page cannot be found… grrr
by Daworm on Sep.29, 2010, under General Ramble
Ok, so just recently I went playing about with my website, upgrading back-end stuff etc. and in turn plugins and wordpress itself.
All worked fine, I did a few wordpress configs. 15-min later logged out and went to sleep.
Trying to access wordpress the next day I couldn’t get into /wp-admin/ I would always be greeted with the dreaded “Page cannot be found” message.
EVERY thing else worked fine, posts, static-pages, accessing /wp-includes/ etc.
So I went googling, tried everything I could.
- Restored from backup
- Deleted plugins
- Removed .htaccess
- Fresh install and then imported database.
All with the same result, cannot access /wp-admin/ and sometimes other errors.
Now, I do suggest you try those and if they STILL don’t work for you.
Try access your plugins.php directly, assuming the wp-login.php still works for you.
- By this I mean http://<yoursite>/wp-admin/plugins.php
For me it was instant gratification as it worked again… I’ve logged out, cleared cache and even access from another machine and still works happily.
I can’t promise it’ll work, but you never know
Not much to say…

Well, don’t have much to say this time around. Just to say that I am here, and I am doing stuff. Just not as fast as I’d like.
I need more time… time to Blend, time to develop. Time to get my own stuff happening.
Working on trying to get some level of webhosting going + other services offered. But it’s not progressing as fast as I’d like.
What I really need is a good week I can sit down with like-minded indviduals and just dedicate my time to Blender. That would be more productive on one-front at least.
Death of Little Ninja Project :(

So I’ve been pottering around a little bit here and there, working on some models and generally my skill for the larger Tar Valon project.
I am getting there but still a few months off of a polished workflow process for creating models. But I am starting to get something inline (I’ll explain more in a further posting).
Anyways, I posted a about an Inspiration and New Hope and linked to a video “Little Ninja Project” and voiced my cries of “more more!” which was eventually answered.
It’s short, it’s sweet and quirky. Just the way we like it
Although I really do hope the author will continue with this in the future and build up on it some more and the story-line. No need to let inexperience and lack of ability hold you back.
Inspiration and New Hope

Just a short update here.
I’ve been some time away from Blender. Just RL getting busy and not having much spare time to really get into Blender proper.
However saying that I am involved (so far very limited) in a project with another Blender fan for the city of Tar Valon from Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time. You can view details about that over at the Blender Artists forum.
In addition to that I’d like to share with you all this little gem of an animation.
Little Ninja Project from Shane Newville on Vimeo.
Watching this a couple of times just to see little things I might have missed the first time through. I’ve realised that I might be aspiring to go too far too fast with my work in Blender. So I’ll dial it back a notch, break out an earlier render I was working on and get him animated some. Won’t go detailed on the hands and feet too much, a simple painted on face as well like seen in the above video. But then I can use it as an evolution of work more than a “I go this far… so I stopped”.
More updates about that later though.
Adios!
