Death of Little Ninja Project :(

by Daworm on Feb.15, 2010, under Blender

So I’ve been pottering around a little bit here and there, working on some models and generally my skill for the larger Tar Valon project.

I am getting there but still a few months off of a polished workflow process for creating models. But I am starting to get something inline (I’ll explain more in a further posting).

Anyways, I posted a about an Inspiration and New Hope and linked to a video “Little Ninja Project” and voiced my cries of “more more!” which was eventually answered.

It’s short, it’s sweet and quirky. Just the way we like it :)

Although I really do hope the author will continue with this in the future and build up on it some more and the story-line. No need to let inexperience and lack of ability hold you back.

Inspiration and New Hope

by Daworm on Jan.13, 2010, under Blender, General Ramble

Just a short update here.
I’ve been some time away from Blender. Just RL getting busy and not having much spare time to really get into Blender proper.

However saying that I am involved (so far very limited) in a project with another Blender fan for the city of Tar Valon from Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time. You can view details about that over at the Blender Artists forum.

In addition to that I’d like to share with you all this little gem of an animation.

Little Ninja Project from Shane Newville on Vimeo.

Watching this a couple of times just to see little things I might have missed the first time through. I’ve realised that I might be aspiring to go too far too fast with my work in Blender. So I’ll dial it back a notch, break out an earlier render I was working on and get him animated some. Won’t go detailed on the hands and feet too much, a simple painted on face as well like seen in the above video. But then I can use it as an evolution of work more than a “I go this far… so I stopped”.

More updates about that later though.
Adios!

First decent rendered head.

by Daworm on Nov.01, 2009, under Blender, General Ramble

So after about a month of messing about with Blender I decided to give it a go at making something “decent” with it.

This is what I’ve done so far:

My first decent head! from Victor Hardy on Vimeo.

Some still image renders of what I’m at so far.

Next step is to get some semi-decent texturing on it.

Blender 3D – My oh My!

by Daworm on Oct.21, 2009, under Blender, General Ramble

Ok, for the last few weeks I’ve been messing about with Blender. A free open-source 3D Modeling software, capable of great things from what I’ve seen and read so far. Don’t believe me? Have a look at some works (internet sourced).

I’ll post some of my works in a day or so.

Fully Playable Games

The amazing thing about Blender is that it has a built-in game engine, that (yet again) the Blender Foundation have assisted in having made to show the sorts of things that are possible.

But that’s just some content… there is lots more out there, if you have any questions jump onto any number of community websites.

Two that I am on at this stage:

But there are MANY more than that out there.

I’ll make another post in a few days with some good tutorial links, but quickly on that note have a look at the approx 5 hours of tutorial videos available on Blender Underground. An awesome entry level of information available within them!
